Carbon Monoxide Testing

We recommend annual carbon monoxide testing for most homes, ideally before the heating season begins. However, you should schedule additional testing if you install new fuel-burning appliances, make renovations that might affect ventilation, or notice any symptoms that could indicate carbon monoxide presence. Homes with older heating systems or appliances may benefit from more frequent inspections, typically every six months.

During a professional carbon monoxide inspection, our technicians will examine all fuel-burning appliances including furnaces, water heaters, gas stoves, fireplaces, and space heaters. We also inspect ventilation systems, chimneys, flues, and exhaust outlets for proper function and potential blockages. Additionally, we test the air in various rooms of your home using specialized equipment that can detect even low levels of carbon monoxide that might not trigger standard home detectors.

While carbon monoxide detectors are essential safety devices that every home should have, they're not replacements for professional testing. Most home detectors only alert you when carbon monoxide reaches potentially dangerous levels, but they don't identify the source of the problem or detect low-level leaks that may cause health issues over time. Professional testing can identify potential problems before they become dangerous, locate the exact source of leaks, and ensure all your fuel-burning systems are operating safely.
